Hubei Huangmei Joins Hands with Wuhan Textile University to Build Huanggang's First Textile Industry Technology Research Institute

On August 29, Huangmei County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province officially signed a contract with Wuhan Textile University to jointly build the East Hubei Textile New Material Technology Research Institute. Xu Weilin, academician of the CAE Member, president of Wuhan Textile University, and Liu Yuxiao, secretary of the Huangmei County Party Committee, witnessed the signing.
It is reported that the East Hubei Textile New Materials Technology Research Institute is the first textile industry technology research institute in Huanggang City. It will be based on the foundation of Huangmei textile and clothing industry, relying on the scientific and technological achievements and talent advantages of universities, to achieve the docking and transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements within advantageous enterprises, and promote the transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development of Huangmei textile and clothing industry.
The textile and clothing industry is one of the five leading industries in Huangmei County. In recent years, the textile and clothing industry in Huangmei has developed rapidly, ranking among the key growth industry clusters in the province for eight consecutive years. It has been recognized by the China Textile Industry Federation as the China Filament Weaving Industry Base, and Dasheng Industrial Park is one of the eight demonstration parks for the transfer of the textile industry in China. According to statistics, there are a total of 142 textile and clothing enterprises of all sizes in Huangmei County, including 65 spinning enterprises, 18 weaving enterprises, 56 clothing enterprises, and 3 diamond clothing enterprises. There are 39 industrial enterprises above designated size, with an annual output value of 5.9 billion yuan.
The Huangmei textile industry has quantity but not quality, and requires high-quality park construction, high precision investment attraction, and efficient potential tapping. Liu Yuxiao said that through this signing, the technological research and development achievements of Wuhan Textile University will be transformed into Huangmei's industry, and with the strong technical strength and cutting-edge market information of the school, the existing textile industry will be transformed and iterative upgrading will be achieved; Through school county cooperation, we aim to cultivate a group of practical textile talents for Huangmei, elongate the textile and clothing industry chain, diversify products, and revitalize intangible cultural heritage such as Huangmei Cross Flower and Huangmei Opera.
